Neither Snarky or Drunk

One of the biggest inspirations for me to write The Whiskey Journal was because of how unimpressed I was with the literature I was reading. It felt like either recycled or half-baked crap. I didn't hear or feel voice and heart. Possibly some of one at the expense of the other.

That was just literature and i’m not even talking about about other platforms of media entertainment. It was so unoriginal to me I spent more than enough time researching what it takes to kickoff a YouTube channel. The problem with YouTube is that it's like any other hobby where you have to suck at it for a long time before anyone even begins to notice you let alone sharing your content.

Who comes to mind? The Critical Drinker of course! I first noticed his channel when he had about 64,000 subscribers. Now he's got a couple of million. His character was fresh, the writing was funny, and everything he said was original. You can distinctly tell the difference in his audio equipment once he began taking off. The Drinker is the source code to much of my own writing, believe that!

Most of western civilization's problems can be traced back to the Star Wars sequel trilogy, if you are paying attention on YouTube. The Drinker was a leader in this crusade and the war paint wasn't even dry before he set his eyes upon the imploding Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I understand it's important to review what's being watched or at the forefront of everyone's mind in order to remain relevant. There's only so many ways you can say a production company sucks though and now each time I watch one of his videos I no longer wonder if the review will be good, but how bad.

We haven't even addressed the sidekick of the Critical Drinker and that's Snarky Jay. What she lacks in witty writing she makes up in sex appeal. To her credit, her niche is to seemingly put a lot of effort into her hobby/pass time of cosplay and then talk about movies. I would be the first to admit I watch her videos because she is young, attractive, and unique with her costumes. Make no mistake though she rarely if ever diverges from what The Drinker has to say.

So if the Critical Drinker is no longer saying anything original and Snarky Jay never did, but both have their corners on presentation, that signals to me that there is room in the market for someone like me to assert my own opinions for the masses to hear the gospel of Rastall.

This leads to a lot more possibilities. More than one person said I should do a podcast. I am unsure if I want to go through the learning curve of being a successful YouTuber. My point is i’m not happy with the film critique game and perhaps I should be the change I want to see in the world. What I need is a business plan, a strategy, and time. The ambition is there.
